Even though our plans are very well advanced, we're still keen to make contact with people or organisations that could support and join in with our aims - especially any social, community, student, media or artist organisation that lies on our route from Europe to East Asia.
Your comments and advice, ideas and suggestions are very welcome. About visas, border controls, Siberian road conditions, putting an exhibition on in Japan or the price of diesel in Korea... anything.
Equipment:
We already have much of the equipment that we need to complete the projects and achieve our basic aims although some materials will always be in short supply, such as photographic printing paper, printer ink, DV tapes and diesel. More here
Art required - help needed:
Over the next couple of months we will be collecting photos, paintings, small sculptures or installations, videos and music from the UK.
The theme will be people’s representations of their lives and immediate surroundings to give the communities we meet along the way insight into different interpretations of our culture. It can either be work tailor-made for this project or done previously.
It is probably best for you to give us COPIES of your work as we cannot guarantee you will get it back! Also, as we will be travelling in reduced space to Japan, please ensure your artwork is easy for us to transport and store. Dimensions may vary, but please make sure that, when possible, it is framed, laminated or protected in some way. For videos and music please send us the highest quality and resolution possible, we will then do any converting ourselves. Also, feel free to attach any blurbs about yourself and/or your work.
