Introducing Us

Conny

Home: Originally the Austrian Alps but now London, UK and Pašovice, Czech Republic.
Education: Degree in Business Studies, Austria.
Employment: Trying to employ the unemployable.

Ever since I can remember I've wanted to 'GO SOMEWHERE' - anywhere! Starting at a young age, travelling Europe with an Orchestra and finally making it overseas and off the Continent at 18 to travel the USA. Since then my main root has been in London although travelling up, down and across Europe in different trucks and buses almost every summer and, of course, the old hippy route: London to India and back.

Nicola

Born in Amsterdam, my British parents moved to Florence from where I travelled extensively around Europe after leaving school. These were extremely formative years in my life as they piqued my curiosity for the world around me and cemented my love for travel. I returned to Italy in 2001 and completed my BA in Sociology. It was here that I started getting close to Visual Research, and was especially interested in how film and photography could be of importance for understanding and interpreting the world and different cultures surrounding us. After my graduation I moved to London and continued my education and research within the field of Visual Studies. I also started working with kids with special needs and disabilities. In 2007 I joined the MyWorld project, as it was the perfect opportunity to tie together many of my interests: travel, youth work and visual research. I participated in the Africa Tour in 2008, working on photography projects with youth from a variety of different backgrounds. I am now preparing to take this project abroad again as part of “Earthcircuit” to continue raising awareness of situations people live in around the world, as I believe that only by understanding and accepting difference can we promote a global understanding and acceptance of each other.

Andy

Home: London and Ceské Budejovice.
Education: Philosophy at North London University.
Employment: Anything involving vehicles.

My first van and my first road trip was a summer holiday with my fellow teenage garage band members. My second van got us as far as the Middle East where we had five different nationalities on board (six if you include the Italian dog with a Greek passport). The third van reached India and arriving there skint we pretty much survived on donations from our passengers which numbered in the hundreds in that incredible country. In the last few years I have been putting some roots down and establishing a base in the very centre of Europe but I have sorely missed the hours and hours of driving, the smell of diesel and the great unknowns ahead of us...

Dunia

Home: Too many to mention.
Education: Still going on.
Employment: Researcher/Observer/Recorder.

With a Portuguese/English family scattered around the planet I managed to settle in London long enough to complete studies in photography which have involved trips to USA, Morrocco, Romania, India, Thailand, Vietnam and Laos. Now moving on to video, an overland journey will be a perfect test for some new skills...

Radka

Coming from Czech Republic, I trained as a social worker in London and spent many years working in organisations such as Friends of The Earth, Greenpeace and Sananim. My interest in environmental issues together with my social welfare studies at  university has led me to Earthcircuit - a project that aims to promote global ‘voice’  - and a chance for me to record and analyse oral histories and perceptions of life...
